Cravings
Sit down, pour yourself a tea and take a moment
I have always known that good health does not happen by itself. When I was growing up in Australia it was breakfast and dinner on the table at a certain time every day and no-one had a choice what they were going to be eat. I look back on that and as much as I complained at times, which got me nowhere, there was a variety of food and flavours. There wasn’t a lot of money so cooking was certainly creative. One thing is for sure, it was always about what foods kept us healthy. Protein from meat, chicken or fish. Fish was what we caught ourselves, which was always fresh out of the river or ocean. I loved those meals. The plate was colourful with vegetables each day and you ate what you were given. The vegetables either came from our own garden, or from locals market gardeners. Of course as one gets a little older it is much easier to have the conversation about what foods you like and what you don’t. Each season food changed as I lived where the shops only sold what was local. There was little to no imported foods as no-one really needed to import food. Therefore it was very easy to be in the rhythm of the seasons. It was I suppose second nature to me to understand what food was grown at what time of the year.
There were certain flavours and tastes that I can still bring back in my mind. Fresh garden peas late spring early summer and peaches where the juice just drips down your hands during the summer. So what does have this to do with health. Now we have access to just about any food at any time. Of course we all marvel with that prospect, however when to we take amount to say, is it the right food for me. Only you can answer that question. I would to invite you to take some time to come on a journey of food for you and see if everything you are doing is for the greater good of your health. Its fun, so lets get started.
